The canoe meditation is designed to help you to relax, open your mind to possibility. It is also designed to help you engage an ‘anchor’ (an easy physical reminder – e.g. gently squeezing your left index finger, biting your lower lip). Choose an anchor action that you wouldn’t normally do. Every time you carry out this ‘anchor action’ you will be reminded of this feeling. It can be done at anytime – at work, sitting on the bus, preparing dinner, etc..

For this meditation it’s best if you are somewhere quiet where you won’t be disturbed, then:

    • Sit comfortably in a chair
    • Think of an anchor that suits you
